Bovay Engineers was responsible for the MEP design for this eight-level, 2500 space parking garage that services the new Federal Inspection Services Terminal for international passengers at Bush Intercontinental Airport in Houston.
The garage abuts the new Federal Inspection Services building and the existing Terminal "C" parking garage. The roadway for departures and arrivals for the terminal pass through this garage on two levels. An underground baggage and a ramp on the north side accommodate vertical vehicle circulation. A second double helix ramp is connected to the garage via an overhead bridge. The exterior facade is a combination of perforated metal panels and reflective glass. This innovative garage also features a complete parking control system with parking space availability system, security system, information technology system, graphics, and intermediate distribution facility.
Additionally Bovay is responsible for coordinating with other design firms and the Power Company for placement of power switchgear to serve both the garage and special power requirements for secondary tenant.
